COUNTER-MAPPING WORKSHOP IN METAXOURGEIO

On the weekend of September 5–6, we held the counter-mapping workshop «What We Mourn, What We Celebrate, What We Dream» at Leonnatou.

The workshop opened with talks by Penny Travlou «Who Has the Power to Define and Represent the City?», Konstantina Theodorou “Why Metaxourgeio?” and Daphne Delfaki «Why Counter-Mapping» followed by a walk through the neighborhood’s stories with Konstantina Theodorou, titled «Minor Resistances».

Through a practice of mourning led by Eliana Otta, participants explored what it means to let go, before turning to participatory visioning with Eirini Sakellari and Venetia Galanaki, imagining new possibilities for the neighborhood. The workshop closed with the making of a map using a technique borrowed from weaving, one that weaved together mourning, celebration, and dreaming.
