Wording the trouble. Imaginaries of transformation amidst social and ecological challenges.

Is a new collective project I´m part of. This initiative is based on an ongoing collaboration between four artists with overlapping concerns and approaches. From the invitation to participate in the festival SOHO in Ottakring: 2020 “Wie Meinen?”, we decided to document the paths and the conversations that led us to develop the exhibited projects. Our concerns revolve around how the criminalization of protest, and the increase in social discontent are symptoms of the civilizational crisis built on the basis of the exploitation of nature.

This blog tries to collaborate in reading the complex panorama of conflict and recent Latin American mobilization, since we consider that at the center of the demands of its inhabitants there is a strong criticism of the capitalist system that profits by destroying life in all its forms, oppresses bodies and subjectivities, extinguishing ancestral knowledge and forms of relationship that offer alternatives to the necessary transformations of the planet. This is a project by artists Imayna Cáceres, Alfredo Ledesma, Eliana Otta and Hansel Sato, Peruvians living in Vienna.

Formulando el problema. Imaginarios de transformación / desafíos sociales y ecológicos

Esta iniciativa parte de una colaboración continua entre cuatro artistas con inquietudes y enfoques que se entrecruzan. A partir de la invitación a participar en el festival SOHO in Ottakring: 202 Wie Meinen? (¿Qué opinas?, ¿cómo opinar?), decidimos documentar los caminos, las conversaciones que nos llevaron a desarrollar los proyectos exhibidos. Nuestras preocupaciones giran en torno a cómo la criminalización de la protesta, y el incremento del descontento social son síntomas de la crisis civilizatoria construida sobre la base de la explotación de la naturaleza.

Este blog intenta colaborar a leer el complejo panorama de la conflictividad y la movilización latinoamericana reciente, pues consideramos que en el centro de las demandas de sus habitantes hay una fuerte crítica al sistema capitalista que lucra destruyendo la vida en todas sus formas, oprime los cuerpos y las subjetividades, extinguiendo saberes ancestrales y formas de relacionarse que ofrecen alternativas a las transformaciones necesarias para el planeta.

Este es un proyecto de las artistas Imayna Cáceres, Alfredo Ledesma, Eliana Otta y Hansel Sato, peruanas viviendo en Viena.
